New Survey finds Schools Failing Grief Education and Most People Associating Grief with Depression

1888 Press Release – More Americans will grieve in next decade than ever before, but in new survey by grief support non-profit, www.MyGriefAngels.org, over 80% of respondents said “they were not prepared for dealing with loss, they want schools to better prepare us, and majority associated grief with depression”, but new twitter-inspired book, “Good from Grief”, looks to change that with 288 inspiring life stories.

According to data from the National Center for Health Statistics,

“The number of women in the U.S. having babies after 40 is highest in decades” (http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2013/aug/15/delaying-the-diapers/), and the Census Bureau reports that, “The share of Householders age 75 and older is at the highest levels”

NPR and the National Academy of Sciences tell us that “Americans are falling behind in the getting older race with the average American male departing at 75.64 and American females at 80.2″

(http://www.npr.org/blogs/krulwich/2013/10/21/239000940/americans-fall-behind-in-the-getting-older-race), and the Social Security Administration says that “3.5 percent of children younger than 18 will lose their mother or father, and that as people now become parents when they are older, this number is likely to increase.”

Combined, these four trends will push the total number of Americans grieving, and specially children, to some of the highest levels ever, but in a new survey by online grief support non-profit, http://www.MyGriefAngels.org, the overwhelming majority of survey respondents indicate that “They were not prepared for dealing with the loss of a loved one, they want schools to do a better job of preparing us for this natural part of life, and they associate grieving with pain and depression”.

The new Twitter-inspired book, “Good from Grief”(www.GoodfromGrief.org), addresses head on the survey’s call for greater grief education, and grief’s negative association.

The book is by two Harvard classmates that felt uneducated, unprepared and lost in dealing with the death of their loved ones. Through a Twitter project, “Turning Grief into Something Positive”, they selected and shared daily stories of individuals who in the midst of unthinkable pain found the inner strength to turn their grief into something positive. The unexpected healing effect of this project on their own grief journeys, led them to make a case for the positive side of grief with this book. The side that is empowering individuals worldwide in the midst of unbearable pain to turn their grief into something positive for all of us.

The authors, Chao and Failde, share 288 of these life stories in twitter-sized paragraphs that give a glimpse at the powerful positive impact grief, through individuals like those featured in the book, is making in our communities worldwide.

From unshakeable personal commitments to new laws, organizations, research, and awareness campaigns so others they have never met will not have to face the tragedies their families faced – to achieving new heights in the arts, sports, and literature to help others heal and to serve as an examples of triumphs over grief.

Chao and Failde point out, “We all grieve differently and the stories shared here are not meant as a roadmap through grief, but as a glimpse at some of the possibilities through the roads taken by others.”

The book includes the inspiring and educational examples of folks like,

“A grieving daughter from a family of doctors, whose mother had gone in for knee replacement surgery but died due to complications, turner her grief to a mission and foundation to help prevent the 200,000 yearly deaths from preventable medical error”

“Bruce and Denise Morcombes, who were recently rewarded for their unrelenting dedication to child safety with the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM), Australia’s highest recognition”. Since the death of their son after being abducted in 2003, they have dedicated themselves to helping other children avoid the fate of their son.”

“A mom, whose 14 year old son was repeatedly bullied at school for being Gay and Asian, is on mission to get new anti-bullying laws in place in schools”

“Named by Interview magazine as one of the “Most Noble Crusaders of the Modern Era,” Vance’s life was turned upside-down when she lost her only son, Sam, a 19 year old college freshman, to the scourge of heroin. Determined to make a significant impact, Vance took her “fashion with a cause” message to the fashion and entertainment industries with the Sam Vance Foundation and Sama Eyewear”

The book includes sections with the latest information on “How grief impacts our health,” “What coping strategies others grieving are using to get through grief attacks,” “What you should not say to those of us grieving,” “How to find grief support by your type of loss,” and “What are these signs others grieving talk about?”

In an effort to address the need for greater grief education, all authors’ proceeds from the distribution of the book will go to fund the development of free “Grief Education” Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and the efforts of those who would want to turn their grief into something positive.

Education for Children’s – Have Education NGOs Done Their Part?

Education is the most effective method that can be utilized to change the world and the most efficient way of breaking the chain of poverty among the poor. According to the researches as well as reports, since the independence of the country, more than a huge sum of 2 crore people have remained uneducated in India. They are not only neglected their right to education but also lose their childhood life to earn food for a living. The best NGOs in India are always trying their best to improve the education society among the weaker class in a country like India.

With the help of the government, these non-governmental organizations are aiming to retain every child in school belonging to the weaker sections of the society. Moreover, according to the reports, more than 60% of the students drop themselves after passing the 3rd grade. Due to all these circumstances, the perfect implementation of the right to education in a country like India is yet to be made.

Power and capability of the NGOs
When there is a presence of an imbalance in the education society, the NGOs put their step forward to balance them. Multiple education NGOs in India play a major role to ensure that every child from the backward society receives an education that will help them to build a proper future. They work at the base level, spread awareness about the benefits of education, and enroll as many candidates as possible for education in a country like India.

Process of enrollment

The main purpose of the NGOs is to identify the most vulnerable and backward children present around the corners of the country. Due to large-scale poverty as well as inaccessibility, the children miss out on their schooling career. We must donate to charity online that will help to enroll children under the right to education act so that everyone living in the country can receive an education. The NGOs offer gap classes to the students who have missed out on previous years’ classes and helps them to enroll in age-appropriate categories.

Counseling and awareness
Through various activities as well as workshops, the awareness of the importance of education is spread among the local communities and the parents. The citizens of India should donate money for orphans that allow the NGOs to arrange regular sessions of counseling that encourages the parents to admit their wards to schools especially the girls. It also helps them to participate in various kinds of activities.

Workshops on skill development
School committees, sports as well as learning activities help children in leadership as well as the development of personality. As proud citizens of India, we must donate for child education in India so that the NGOs can conduct several activities in schools that will help the children to develop confidence, build their skills as well as learn the rights.

Quality education
Other elements also play a major role to offer quality education to all the children of the country. The major NGOs help in the accurate implementation of the right to education act in the schools among the poorest states of the country. They also help to strengthen the infrastructure of the schools, train the teachers as well as deliver learning materials and books to the schools and children in need.

The government carries some drives like a donation for poor child education to allow the NGOs to work together in collaboration. Being the proud citizens of India, a monthly donation of some amount would help the families to break out of their poverty. It will also allow the children to go to school who are not in the condition to enroll for school.

Improve your English language skills, as working in the U.S. requires proficiency. All relevant materials, exams, and licensure processes are conducted in English.

Compile Essential Documents:
Gather necessary documents, including academic transcripts (indicating at least 150 credit hours), resumes detailing prior CPA work, and information on degrees, licenses, or certifications.

Choose Accredited Credential Evaluation Service:
The Board of Accounting in your desired state will guide you on the credential evaluation service. Most states, including some mandating NASBA, necessitate this step for licensure eligibility.

Commence CPA Exam Preparation:
Initiate preparation for the CPA Exam, comprising four sections. Achieving passing scores in each section is a prerequisite for licensure. Understand the exam’s comprehensive nature and plan your study timeline, typically recommended as a year with dedicated periods for each section.

Apply for Notice to Schedule (NTS):

Upon receiving your credential evaluation report (usually 6-8 weeks), apply for the Notice to Schedule (NTS). This document confirms your eligibility to take the CPA exam and schedule a test date. Most states use NASBA’s CPA Central portal for NTS applications but verify specific requirements with your intended state.
